ILLUSIONS : WORK ON THE FEMALE BODY IN FRONT OF THE MIRROR
My very first photographic project revolves around questions about the relationship between the body and the mirror. I want to show just how distorted and far removed from reality our perception of our own bodies can be, as we are constantly subjected to impossible societal aesthetic injunctions, particularly as women. I added a dreamlike aspect to show how far from reality we are, but also the importance of the way we look at things. As a young woman, the perception of oneself and one's body is a very complicated issue: my aim here is to demonstrate the extent to which a degraded perception of oneself and one's own body can lead us into a negative spiral, producing nightmarish images.
